Luca Ciaffoni has been interested in developing solutions for blind and partially sighted people for many years. He has been involved in various projects regarding web and software accessibility, but he’s been especially working in the field of mobility and developed the app Ariadne GPS, an application to help people move around independently also giving them the possibility to virtually explore the surrounding by moving their fingers on the map. Streets, rivers, parks came to life and what was a drawing on the map became an audible sound reminding of the object. This app was very much appreciated and it reached the height of its glory when Apple decided to include it in a video shown at the WWDC 2012 keynote. From then on, thousands of people downloaded the app and sent their message of appreciation.
